(Faculty-Article)  The cabinet had recently approved the Direct Tax Code (DTC) bill that is going to replace the Income Tax Act, 1961 and the Wealth Tax Act, 1957. Finance minister has already expressed the hope that the Direct Taxes Code, which seeks to modernise tax laws in the country, will come into force from April 1, 2012.
